VII. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification requirements
Because of the broad range of tasks and the specific requirements related to this work it is evident that the position of counsellor has to be filled by a person of adequate qualifications. He/she has to be a professionally trained expert (university degree in social work/education or another field of social science).
Several years of practical work experience in various fields of social work are considered necessary.

Further training
Permanent field-related as well as personal further training is necessary for professional social work. This is to be guaranteed through the organization.
Field-related exchange of ideas with colleagues should serve to maintain a permanent reflection and further development of the existing range of offers. Especially where the staffing of occupational social work does not allow this kind of exchange, the opportunity for a company-to-company exchange of ideas with colleagues in the same field is to be ensured.
Supervision is a particularly efficient method related to practical work with which to analyze professional behaviour and to optimize its effectiveness. The possibility for this has to be provided.
